West Coast Express Information

The only interregional commuter railway service operating in the British Columbian region of Canada, the West Coast Express service began operations in the year 1995. It serves as a link between places such as Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Mission and the Waterfront Station in the Downtown Vancouver area. This is also a point of interchange for numerous other public transportation services such as SkyBus and SeaTrain Rapid Transit service.

The service of the West Coast Express runs on weekdays with the exception of public holidays. There are five services that operate daily between Vancouver and Mission during the morning as well as the evening peak hours. A one-way journey is typically completed in seventy-five minutes, much faster as opposed to reaching downtown Vancouver by road. Moreover, there are a couple of bus services, known as TrainBus services, that operate from Vancouver station once all of the trains depart in the morning with another five services running eastwards. The eastwards services have stops only at the stations of the West Coast Express.

If you take a look at the map of the West Coast Express service, you will come across four different routes marked in four unique colors. The Purple line marks the stops and route of the West Coast Express; the Expo Line is represented by the Dark Blue line; the Millennium Line is marked by yellow and light blue signifies the presence of the SeaBus service. Canada Line, which commenced operations in August of 2009 is not typically shown in any of the maps. It runs between Vancouver Airport, Richmond and Waterfront Station where it serves as a point of interchange for the passengers of the West Coast Express, SkyBus service or any of the other SkyTrain lines.
